♕ Make Up Look ~ Bow Liner ♕
{Requested}

Today's look is very, very special, because it was requested by a lovely friend of mine from the US, Ally. She's such a supportive and caring girl, extremely badass and fierce; she has a thing for bows - it's her signature, so to speak - and, one day, she DMed me on Instagram asking me if I could do a black & purple look with a bow included somewhere.

I was SO thrilled - both because I love when someone requests a look and also because it would be quite a challenging makeup to make. So, of course, I replied I would happily do it and, after some brainstorming, I came up with this bow look!

Must say, I had a clear idea of what I wanted this makeup to look - my only, but crucial, concern was the bow: where to place it? I had no clue at first. I thought about including it in the eyeliner, maybe on the wing - but I wasn't sure that could really work. The bow was the theme of this look, so I needed it be very visible and noticeable. At last, I came up with a nice solution: instead of drawing on the lid or the eyeliner, I decided to place it right above the crease - so it could really be the focus of the whole makeup. At first I thought about adding the ribbons, but then I transformed them into a second eyeliner that follows my natural crease. I am extremely proud of it, because I feel I really captured Ally's essence and style - and glad it received so much love on my Instagram!

I applied an eyeprimer first, then I applied a black eyepencil because I needed a dark base -  as always, I used Feline by MAC Cosmetics, and I applied it on both upper and lower lid. Then, I applied a shimmer but extremely black mineral pigment all over the upper lid. To create the crease blending I used a mix of two different eyeshadows: Mimesis by NABLA Cosmetics and Fashion Addict by Makeup Geek Cosmetics. As transition shade, I used Hopscotch by MUG; on the inner corner I applied Frozen eyeshadow by NABLA - while on the brow bone, needless to say, I used Antique White by NABLA.
On the lower lid I decided to use a different shadow from the upper lid, and I applied the gorgeous Selfish celestial eyeshadow by NABLA. I love how it goes along with all the other shades I used *_*

Let's move on the liners :D To add a nice and bright twist, I decided to go for a lilac winged eyeliner. I used Calypso eyeshadow by NABLA (mixed with some drops of Fix +) to draw a thick, winged line - and I just LOVE the result! This shadow never fails to amaze me... After all this time? Always!
Then, i concentrated on the bow and the additional line. This time I used my usual black eyeliner (again, a pigment used wet with Fix +) and I carefully drew the second line first. I tried to follow my crease shape the best I could: I started from the inner corner, keeping the line very thin, then I thickened it on the central area, and I made it thin again once I reached the outer corner. I'll be honest, it took me forever - but it was worth it!
After that I drew the bow, using the black liner for the main shape - then I switched back to Calypso to outline it.
Most of the work was done, so I moved on and completed the look: I applied the same black pencil on the waterline, lined my lashline with a black shadow (Nocturne by NABLA), applied false lashes and mascara. And ta-dah, I was done!

  1. Dillo che sei di un altro pianeta. Beh...
