♕ Make Up Look ~ Mermaids & Unicorns ♕

Today's look was inspired by a lovely friend of mine, Shelina, who did a bright purple and teal look with tons of glitters a couple of weeks back. I instantly fell in love with the whole look - the glitters, the colour combination, the style, everything... So when I had the chance I tried it right away!
The title itself is a reference to Shelina's look - she called it "Unicorns", I of course added "Mermaids" XD I think it's quite fitting, because it features both unicorn-ish shade such as purple and pink, plus mermaid colours like teal and bright blue! ♥

This makeup is quite dramatic, but also quite easy. The trickiest part is probably the two-coloured blending, because the two shades must blend in each other without actually mixing, if you know what I mean. Apart from that, it's very simple and fairly quick to make.
Shelina's version featured teal/green glitters, but I went for bright blue glitters because... It was the closest shade I had. The green glitters I own were either too pale, too bright or too dark... So I had no choice but use blue ones, and I selected this particular shade (Dory) because it was so mermaid-ish and I thought it would get along with the purple and pink colours pretty well. And it did! :D

After priming my lids I started off by creating the two-coloured crease blending. I used Shark Bait eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics first, and I applied it starting from the inner corner and blending it upwards and outwards, until I reached the outer corner; then I did the same with Mimesis by NABLA Cosmetics (which I also applied on my lower lid), making sure it didn't overwhelm the teal blending. It needed a little bit of "wax on, wax off" to achieve the perfect level of blending, but it was worth it. Following Shelina's design, I created a V shape on the outer corner. As transition shade I used another MUG eyeshadow, Shore Thing.
On the upper lid I applied Calypso by NABLA, serving as base for the glitters. I didn't blend it too much into Mimesis, I created a quite a neat, round shade shape. The glitter shade I used is called Delicate and is by GlitterTubes.

Then I worked on the bright blue details: first I applied a foiled shadow by MUG (Pegasus) on the tear duct area and on the outer corner, right below Mimesis. Then I applied Dory glitters (again by GlitterTubes) on both areas - no glue on the inner corner, but I used some lash glue on the outer corner detail since it consisted in a quite precise line. At this point I was done with most of the eyeshadows: I applied Antique White on my brow bone and I used Nocturne to define my lower lashline.
I then applied eyeliner - nothing crazy/graphical this time, just a good old winged line - and of course I used Trooper (Tattoo Liner by KVD). Final touches, as always, are black eyepencil, false lashes and mascara!
