I've been saving today's look for a special occasion, and that day has finally come! As I anticipated in my previous blog post (here), I officially started makeup school! I'm so excited for this new chapter of my life and I cannot wait to be a certified/pro MUA ♥
Back at the makeup look, I made this one some time ago - like, two months ago. It's inspired by Laura's (@theclassicalmua on Instagram) little mermaid look, which features a lot of glitters on the upper lids and eyebrows, plus a very cool mermaid tail shape on the outer corner. And, of course, it went on my to-try list straight away! XD
This is definitely the perfect look to celebrate the beginning of my journey, but since Halloween is just around the corner, hopefully it can also be inspiring in case you're planning to be a mermaid or the mermaid for Halloween ;D

Although I loved Laura's look the way it was, I decided I was going to change some little details - both to match my taste but also to create my own version of it and not just a blatant copy. Specifically, I added winged liner - you know I love it so much and I tend to include it in about 90% of my looks; I didn't add much details on the fins - Laura used different liners and pigments, but I decided to keep it simple. Besides that, I kept the same colour combinations and glitter applications - even on the brows! As you can see, I loved this look so much and I decided to use it as my profile picture ;D
Overall, it's quite a simple look - with the trickiest thing being the fins/tail shape, but nothing crazy, trust me. I started off by creating the lilac blending, so after priming my lids I applied Chit Chat eyeshadow by Makeup Geek Cosmetics on the crease, the outer corner and also on the lower lid, and Hopscotch by MUG on the crease. Simple as that, I didn't add any other shadows - I just used Fossil by NABLA as transition shade. I made sure I blended it smoothly and evenly before moving on to the lids.
I used my foundation (Pro Longwear in NW15 by MAC Cosmetics) to clean the lids and carve the main shape. I basically followed my crease shape, going down and shrinking it towards the outer corner - but when it came to the fins, I switched to a plain white eyepencil to draw them.
On the upper lids I applied Dragonfly eyeshadow by MUG - basically wherever I used the foundation, apart from the fins. It served me as a base for the later glitters application, mainly.
Before moving to the glitters (which I like to apply after the eyeliner), I completed the fins: I used Dragonfly to gently outline the shape, and filled it in with a pale aqua pigment. I also used a brighter aqua pigment on the inner corner; on the lower waterline - instead of the usual black eyepencil - I applied a pale lilac eyepencil. Then I applied the liner - needless to say, it's Tattoo Liner in Trooper by Kat Von D Beatuy: a very simple, not too thick, not too winged line.
At this point I applied the glitters, and I chose Splash by GlitterTubes - the perfect option for this look! But we're not done yet: time to do red eyebrows :D I used a red lip pencil to define and fill them in, making them "Ariel red". When I was happy with the filling and shaping, I applied the glitters - Darling by GlitterTubes.
Finally, I completed the look by applying false lashes and mascara (on both upper and lower lashes!) ♥
