Yes, you read correctly. Piraña. This look was inspired by piraña fishes - it was a themed challenge on Instagram, where every once in a while an artist (Sleepologist, in case you're wondering!) chooses a theme and everyone who wants to join has to do an inspired look based on that theme.
Must say, I was happy that she chose such an unusual fish! Also, pirañas are beautiful fishes - dangerous, yes, but pretty somehow. I've never thought about doing a makeup look inspired by these kind of fish, so the theme really challenged me and I decided to give it a try.

Those above are the pics that Sarah provided us as inspiration. She chose three different pirañas pictures, and she added matching colour palettes (which were very useful!). Instead of choosing just one, I decided to do a mix of two out of three - the second and the third; I didn't like the first one and its brownish tones, so I left it out.
I probably should have used more muted, less bright and saturated shades... But I think the look is quite fitting regardless! :D I tried to stick to the fish's colour pattern, sparkles included. Never thought I could create such a colourful look by getting inspired by pirañas XD
After priming my lids, I started off with the inner corner shade: I used a bright orange (that on my skin looks kind of yellowish for some reason), Clementine by NABLA Cosmetics. On the lid (both upper and lower) I used Poolside by Makeup Geek Cosmetics (I love this shade so so much!); on the outer corner I applied Mimesis by NABLA Cosmetics as main shade, blending it into a soft, smooth C shape. Between Poolside and Mimesis, to smooth the transition, I used Boo Berry by MUG, which I also blended on the crease & lower lid.
I used Fossil by NABLA as transition shade, to achieve the softest blending possible; I also applied Nocturne on my lower lashline, and Antique White on my brow bone, as usual.

Before moving on to the eyeliner, I added the sparkles. In the third inspirational picture provided by Sarah, I noticed how pirañas have, beside the strong golden sheen, also a purple sheen... That immediately reminded me of Selfish, one of my most loved eyeshadows by NABLA ever. Selfish is a 'Celestial', and Celestials can be used alone or also as top coat - and that's how I used it in this particular look. I simply padded Selfish over Mimesis (firstly I used the shadow wet, then I added a second dry layer), achieving that purple-sheen effect. I'm so glad that it showed up in pictures too! :D
Then I added gold glitters, I used Brassic by GlitterTubes. I usually pack on glitters to obtain a thick, compact layer - but this time I applied it almost randomly, diffusely, as I wanted them to resemble the sparkling scales of pirañas!Once I was happy with all the sparkles, I completed the look with the usual final touches: winged liner (KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper, needless to say I guess XD), black eyepencil, falsies and mascara.
